It All Started When…

March 12, 2008 · 1 Comment

Well, I’ve gone and done it. Finally, my very own blog. I feel so grown up now in the blog world.

It all started when I left the US to live in Taiwan for a year. On the windswept, random island of Penghu, part of my weekly ritual was writing. I wrote to give myself something to do. I wrote to entertain family and friends. I wrote to stay in touch.

Before I knew it I had relatives I rarely spoke to and long lost friends emailing me, telling me how much they’ve enjoyed my emails. People were forwarding my stories onto their friends and printing them out for people without computer access. My stories, I found out, were being shared at work, over dinner and casual cups of coffee. People I never knew where asking what was happening with me and if I had written anything new. Flattered, I continued writing. My email contacts doubled and I was encouraged by everyone to keep going.

I was gently persuaded to write for a blog site called “Thirty Voices”; a site dedicated to women around the world in their thirties. I wish I had been more diligent about writing for them. Alas, as life would have it, it would be one of the more silent times for me. However, what I gained from writing for this website was a sense that I could realistically pursue this writing dream, that there are other women out there that think and feel like I do, and that I wanted to continue to write a personal blog.

Sadly, Thirty Voices is ending, and as a result I have set up this site to continue my thoughts. The posts previous to this were all written for Thirty Voices, and there are some other amazing women with amazing stories you should check out before this blog site disappears all together. You’ll notice I occasionally have some technical issues, but please bare with me as I struggle with my blogging learning curve. And most of all, enjoy!
